Some advice to Oracle Consultants from a recent ex-Oracle consultant:

1.	Just because you are on a billable assignment is no guarantee that you will not be selected to seek new opportunities.
2.	Update your resume into a format that you can paste into a text box. Get rid of the tables in the Oracle resume template.
3.	Consider a plan to download the contents of your laptop, or simply swap a like drive before turning it in. All equipment must be turned in before you get your severance check.
4.	Consider a plan to download the contents of your phone. ActiveSync only works with Outlook and Windows Pocket PC phones. BitPim works with others. You don’t have to turn in your phone, since Oracle only pays for the service. Service seems to stay on till the end of the monthly cycle. You have the option to transfer account to a personal account.
5.	Expense all AMEX charges on your last expense report on-line even if they have not shown up in ‘your wallet’. Treat it as a personal expense. At least you will get the money from Oracle sooner, and you can pay AMEX by check, else you will have to complete a manual expense report.
6.	Ultimately, you will need to submit a manual expense report to cover the shipping and mailing of stuff to Oracle. You must send it to your manager for approval and he/she would forward it to Accounts Payable.
7.	File for unemployment ASAP. If you wait, you will lose days. Benefits begin on the day you file and is not retroactive to the last day of employment,

Hope this info will help.

There's no posting for 4 days, does this means there was no layoff after November 13?

I am an Indian, born and raised here. I have been on so many projects. I have seen so many people from India, who come here from India have no experience. Most of them are fresh graduates and put fake experience on their resume and g0t jobs. Some other guys take interview for them since they are all phone interviews. Once they are on the job they get help from different sources. I was a lead a company and about 15 people reported to me ( all of them Indians). Out of the 15 only 3 guys have real experience. They even pay someone with real experience to take interviews for them. Companies should do face to face interviews, before they hire anyone from India. My say is there are enough H1 people, ban H1 visas completely and filter out all the Indians who do not have experience.
