Network Appliance cuts 500 jobs
The Sunnyvale[,CA]-based Network Appliance Inc. on Wednesday reported a $75 million loss in the third quarter, or 23 cents a share, and said it would cut about 6 percent — or about 500 people — from its global work force.

They hit some areas hard. The layoffs were by project so some good quality people were let go. Meanwhile, there are some deadwood still hanging on at NetApp.
There’s rumors that if the numbers don’t come out right for the next quarter, there will be another round of layoffs.
