Oracle plans to lay off up to 1,000 in Europe
Oracle Corp plans to lay off up to 1,000 workers in Europe, or about 1 percent of its global staff, as the recession erodes the giant software company’s earnings, French news agency AFP reported on Thursday.

did you anybody hear anything about layoff in US because of Sun-Oracle deal?

31st July, 2009 guys … hang on … you survive thru this and then you can relax thru 30th Sept.
You can expect many lay offs, which happens after each acquisition. Oracle is already in the SUN building (like they do with each acquisition), so a few weeks after the merge has been approved by EU you can expect especially in the USA the temp contracts etc.
