Unemployment Rises, Stocks Fall
Government records 9.5% jobless rate, slightly less than expected, but nonfarm payrolls shed 467,000 jobs. The Dow Jones industrial average slumped 2.1%, the S&P 500 fell 2.3%, the Nasdaq was off 2.4%.
